Barbara Dawson Jareo, failure to wear seat belt, $25; no driver’s license, Parents could pay for carelessness of youths An uninhabited mobile home lo cated at Tripp’s Mobile Home Cen ter at Shallotte Point was destroyed Sunday evening after being engulfed in flames, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Department reported Mon day. Detective Tom Hunter said he believes the fire was caused ac cidentally by three juveniles at tempting to light a kerosene heater. Three boys have been identified as suspects, he said. A neighbor reported the fire about 7 o’clock, but Hunter said the flames had probably been smolder ing since about 4:30 p.m. While the juveniles may not be charged with anything, Hunter indicated that their parents may be held responsible for damages. In other crime reports on file at the sheriff’s department Monday: •A Bolivia woman reported on November 16 that a man offered to pressure-wash her house, and she agreed to pay him SI 15 in advance for rental equipment. The woman said she gave the man a check and has not seen him since. •A Gastonia woman reported Wednesday that someone removed a window from her mobile home and took an estimated SI,427 worth of personal property, including a water pump, a fan, a washing machine, two end tables, an antique brass lamp, a garbage can, five beach towels, ten bath towels and three fishing rods. •A Supply man reported Wednes day that someone cut the padlocks on his storage shed and removed SI,005 worth of property, including a drill press, two sanders, a circular saw, a drill, an air compressor and a tool box. •A Lowell man called 911 from Kopp’s store near Winnabow Satur day and said two men had robbed and assaulted him. The victim told deputy J. D. Gray that he was hitchhiking and two men who picked him up took his wallet, which contained about S70, and hit him across the chest with an unidentified object. •A Supply man reported Saturday that someone took two dirt bikes worth about SI,000 from behind his house. •A Bolivia man reported Thurs day that someone entered his mobile home through a back window and removed a color TV and a VCR. SHERIFF'S •A Winnabow man reported Wed nesday that someone broke into his house and removed a color TV, a microwave oven and a CB radio. •An Ash man reported Wednes day that someone broke into his Ford Thunderbird while it was parked at S&M Auto Sales and removed two speakers. *A Lcland woman reported Wed nesday that someone entered her residence through the back door and removed a color TV worth $300 and a VCR worth $300. •A Shallotte man reported last Tuesday that someone entered his house and removed about $550 worth of property, including a wash ing machine and a reclining chair. •A Bolivia man reported Sunday that someone took his Honda three wheeler off his property and cut the ignition wires from the key switch to be able to start the vehicle later. The victim also reported that some tools were missing from the vehicle. •R&R Sandblasting in Leland reported Friday that someone enter ed the building by removing the screws from the front door. No items were reported missing. •A Leland man reported Sunday that someone shot out the windows of his house and damaged a screen door. •A Leland man reported Sunday that someone cut both front tires of his Mercury Topaz while it was parked in front of his house. •The Calabash post office reported Friday that someone broke into the building and attempted to break into several mail boxes, caus ing about $300 damage. •A Winnabow woman reported Sunday that someone caused about $290 damage to her electronic house alarm and to her metal door frame. No items were reported missing. •The Minute Man store in the Seaside community reported Mon day that someone got $6 worth of gas and drove away without paying. *A China Grove man reported Friday that someone entered his va cation residence at Fisherman’s Vil lage by prying open a side door. About $490 worth of personal prop erty was removed, including a mi crowave oven, a color TV and a VCR. REPORT •A Shallotle woman reported that she discovered about $458 worth of her jewelry was missing, including three rings and a pin. •A Shallotte man reported Thurs day that someone broke into his vehicle while it was parked at the BP Station in Thomasboro and removed a T-shirt, a bar of facial soap, a wash cloth, deodorant, and two framed pictures. •A Shallotte man reported Satur day that someone took his water pump, which was estimated to be worth SI36. •Joey’s Quick Stop in Leland reported Friday that someone enter ed the building by knocking a hole in a side wall and removed about SI30 worth of change from the pool table, which was reported to be damaged beyond repair. •A Bclvillc man reported Satur day that someone took his mountain bike, which he estimated to be worth about $100, while it was parked in front of the Town and Country Motel in Belville. •A Holden Beach woman reported Sunday that someone broke into her vehicle while it was parked at the Supply Baptist Church and removed about $43 worth of per sonal property, including an assort ment of tools, a registration card and title and an expired credit card. •A Shallotte man reported Sunday that someone entered his home and removed about $460 worth of guns, including a 12-gauge shotgun, a .22 caliber Winchester rifle and a .30 caliber Ruger mag rifle. •A Shallotte woman reported Thursday that someone broke out a window in a side door of her home, causing about S250 worth of damage. Nothing was reported miss ing. •Reny’s Any Old Thing store at Ash reported Wednesday that some one entered the building through the back door and removed $426 worth of cash and checks. •The owner of the Cubelet Ice Company in Holden Beach reported Saturday that someone entered his vehicle, which was parked at the business, and removed about $300 worth of stereo equipment, includ ing a cassette deck and speakers.
